Fraserburgh Academy was originally housed on Mid Street and built for a cost of £2500 in 1870. The facility on Finlayson Street, now known as the ‘Old Academy’ and still in use as the art and drama departments of the school, opened on the 8th of June 1909. On that day, the 400 pupils enrolled at the school at the time were marched in column from Mid Street via Broad Street and Victoria Street, following a pipe band procession to their new school.
