The town of Fraserburgh would once again come together to mourn the sad deaths of the men who lost their lives, with thousands lining the streets to pay their respects. The funeral procession was led by the Duke of Kent whose mother had performed the naming ceremony for the boat 16 years earlier.
A report from the Evening Express on the 26th of January included the sentiments of the day from Lord Saltoun:
“Lord Saltoun said he had never called lifeboatmen heroes. He had always felt they were men who could appreciate the risks they run even better than he but who strained their hearts to outstrip a comrade getting to the boat because they would not let fear be their master”
