Air Training Corps - 1940s
The film featured here was a recruitment/promotion film for the Air Training Corps (ATC) featuring members of the Fraserburgh squadron. JB McDonald established the Fraserburgh branch in 1941. The clip was filmed during WWII and the first video shows members of the ATC in the playground of the Central School. Interestingly, the film was shot on colour film stock which was apparently quite difficult to obtain during the war era.
The second film is actually the same film but digitised at a different time. Unfortunately the transfer copy was in black and white despite the original film being in colour. It shows the ATC members out cross country running and playing a game of football at the links near Fraserburgh Beach.
