Maggie Jane Minty, known as the ‘Buchan Poetess’, was a one time resident of Rosehearty. She was married to former Provost of Rosehearty, William Minty, but well known in the area in her own right on account of the poetry she wrote and published in the local press and read at events over the years.

Collections of her poetry were also published as books including.‘Come with Me’ (1952), ‘Gems, Frae my Pen’ (1961), ‘The Glowing Embers’ (1969) ‘Thro’ the Valley’ and ‘There’s a Bee in My Bonnet’ (1984).

She wrote mostly in the Doric but also had poems written in the English language. In this interview, filmed by Jim Taylor in her home, she reads some of the work contained in her book ‘Gems Frae my Pen’.
