Jim Taylor talks with James Duthie about writing and producing scripts as a playwright for screen and stage. James Duthie was best known for the 1978 BBC ‘Play for Today’ production ‘Donal and Sally’ which was written and performed in the local dialect and filmed in Peterhead. James had subsequent success with another production for TV, ‘The Drystane Dyker’, a BBC Scotland production, as well as the stage plays ‘Howl to the Moon’ and ‘Greta’. The narratives of his plays dealt with themes of relationships, conflict and the human condition.
