Maggie Jane Minty, a one time resident of Rosehearty, was known as ‘The Buchan Poetess’ and had her work published regularly in local publications such as the Fraserburgh and Northern Counties Advertiser and Banffshire Journal.

The following books were also published which contained collections of her poems: ‘Come with Me’ (1952), ‘Gems, Frae my Pen’ (1961), ‘The Glowing Embers’ (1969), ‘Thro’ the Valley’ and ‘There’s a Bee in My Bonnet’ (1984).

She wrote mostly in the Doric and was often asked to write special works to be read at events and presentations around the North East.
