Bridget McCann, who played Betty Green, a support worker at the school in ‘Donal and Sally’, landed her first major acting role in the production. She remembers James Duthie fondly and, like others, found his journey from ship’s deck hand to playwright an interesting one. Although born in Lerwick, she went to school in Aberdeen and grew up in the North East so could appreciate the importance of a BBC play being performed in the local dialect at the time. Bridget very kindly shared her reminiscences about the production.
